And so it begins...

Acquired is a 1968 Bonneville with about 20,000 miles on the
clock. This came from a friend of mine who bought it new in 68 and
then parked it in 72. It spent many years in his rec room as a fun
toy for his grand daughter to sit on.

Disassembly went very easily. Very little rust and just about
every fastener was original and present.

All parts were degreased and given a quick cleanup as it was
disassembled. All black painted parts were stored together so that
they can be prepped later for paint or powder-coat. (Still to be
determined at this point)

The left foot rest had been knocked into the primary cover hard
enough to crack the cover. The foot rest was heated and bent back
into shape. Then the primary cover was removed to determine whether
repair or replacement is the best option (TBD)

Engine will need a thorough tear-down and overhaul. The intake
and exhaust ports have been left open to the elements for many years.

 |
Frame was degreased at this stage so that the frame halves and
the support stands could be removed more easily. The frame looks
mostly rust free thanks to 4 years of healthy oil leaks.
